Ms. Rose’s class has been working on a special project to help students explore global differences, learn about geography, and understand the value of kindness and love.
Their goal is to receive Valentines—cards, letters, or postcards—from all 50 states and other countries around the world! During February, the students have enjoyed receiving “happy mail” not only from family and friends but also from people they’ve never met!
Her classes total number of Valentines so far:
- 43 total Valentine’s
- 8 countries: USA, Chile, Belize, Mexico, Romania, India, Switzerland, and Australia (2)!
- 22 states: Oregon, California, Arizona (2), Montana (2), Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin (2), Illinois ( 7), Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, South Carolina (2), North Carolina, Florida (4), Maryland, New Jersey, Massachusetts & Hawaii

Mrs. Herbst’s class worked on a tasty math project in class! These 4th grade Wildcats practiced fractions with “pizzas” by folding the crust into eighths, then choosing topping combinations to create their pizzas. This fun and creative project allowed students to work on adding unit fractions and multiply fractions by whole numbers.
Too bad they couldn't eat these pizzas afterward… 🍕💚

Topic: Supporting Your Child in the Community
This training helps parents navigate the unique challenges their children face in community settings. Through engaging activities, participants will learn strategies to improve communication and manage behaviors. The program also focuses on empowering parents to advocate for their child's needs and build confidence in public interactions. By the end, parents will have access to resources that support their child’s independence and success in the community.
Just last Friday, these area Superintendents got together to record a Wildcast on the topic of school closures and eLearning Days. The conversation resumed on Monday in advance of the winter snow storm we are expecting today. ❄️

Service in the W: The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students at WMS have been busy lately! They recently volunteered their time to pack meals at Feed My Starving Children, and made Valentines for Seniors in the community with Det. Hansen. During The Great Kindness Challenge spirit week at the end of January, students at Woodland Intermediate participated in a Change Challenge to raise money for the annual district food drive. We are thrilled to announce that your donations raised a total of $398.72! Great job Wildcats 💚 #LifeintheW
Mrs. Zerante’s 2nd-grade students practiced budgeting in class by planning a party! In teams, they worked together to decide on everything from the party’s venue and decorations to the pizza and drinks, making sure each item fit within their budget. This a great skill for these young Wildcats to start practicing!
Last night, the Woodland Green and Woodland White Girls' volleyball teams went head-to-head, showcasing their dedication and teamwork. Both teams demonstrated that hard work and collaboration make #LifeintheW even better!
Mrs. Samulak’s 4th grade class conducted an electric experiment today! These students explored and learned about circuits and conductors in class, and worked in groups using a D-cell battery, wires, and springs to light up two lightbulbs. After observing the bulbs, the students noticed that they were dim when powered by just one battery. They then tried the same experiment using two batteries and found that using two allowed each bulb to shine brighter and more powerfully!
Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin!!! (or Finny-Fin-Fin) The first graders in Mrs. Hansen's class took a deep dive on the many versions of the Three Little Pigs story. They read several versions together in class. This allowed them to make predictions when reading a new story, and make connections to previous versions. Then it was time to bring the story to life. The students constructed houses and then tried to blow them down. #LifeintheW 🐷🐷🐷

Event attendees had the opportunity to travel around the world just by taking a trip around the WMS cafeteria. There was so much to learn about the different counties, and plenty of awesome cuisine from around the world to sample. These students had the power to make it rain in Mrs. Chatlani's class! First the students reviewed the water cycle and practiced their vocabulary words. Next it was time for a water cycle movement break where the students had to call out when they heard the vocabulary words they were listening for. Finally, it was time to move to the lab to recreate the water cycle! #LifeintheW 🌧

The Woodland Middle School All-School Spelling Bee took place earlier today, and we have a winner! Congratulations to Arden T. for taking first place, and to Devin S. for earning second. These Wildcats, along with everyone who participated, worked hard and should be very proud.

Woodland Primary Glow Night, Feb. 5!
Join us for an exciting celebration of positive ROAR behavior, while learning the importance of play. Families will visit various stations throughout the building that will have you glowing with fun! Each station will allow students to practice and develop social skills while continuing to demonstrate their ROAR behavior. All Woodland Primary Families Welcome!
It’s Superhero Day at Primary, and Mrs. Henshall’s Wildcats unleashed their super spelling powers! They practiced sounding out tricky letter pairs like “sh” and “qu,” then practiced spelling words out on their whiteboards.
Afterward, to celebrate Kindness Week at Primary, the students got creative and made kindness crowns telling everyone they are kindness superheroes. With two superpowers—spelling and kindness—these Wildcats are unstoppable!
