Our school will be celebrating "Red Ribbon Week" from October 23-27, 2023. Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to focus on healthy lifestyle choices. The following is a schedule of activities that your child is invited to participate in this week. Help us promote healthy choices! Del 23 al 27 de octubre del 2023, nuestra escuela estará celebrando la semana denominada "Red Ribon"; una campaña nacional para promover un estilo de vida saludable. A continuación, usted encontrará un programa de actividades en las que su hijo o hija está invitado a participar durante esta semana. Esto es para promover elecciones saludables.

Thank you to everyone who attended the first Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) of the 2023-2024 school year! We had a great turnout, and it was wonderful to see our families getting to know each other and making connections. The adults heard presentations about Mental Health, and Community Resources, and learned new tips for getting involved in their child's school. The kids spent time working on a craft with Woodland teachers and Warren Township High School student volunteers from Avanza. The month of October is National Principals Month! At Woodland we are so fortunate to have four dedicated school leaders taking care of our learning community. Let's see how well you know our principals! (DIS)ABILITY AWARENESS ASSEMBLY at Woodland Intermediate In case you missed it in Mr. Sheldon's newsletter, here is the video from the assembly on Friday. https://youtu.be/uTpc94s3sOA?si=kHM7adu-_zvWM5fd At the assembly, students heard from representatives from the Lake County Center for Independent Living, Lunch Supervisor Heather Clark, and Hearing Teacher Jessica Pierson. The speakers talked about their disabilities, and all the ways they are the same as everyone else - with the same interests, hobbies, hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Students also learned about using Person-First language, inclusive play, and treating others with respect. Here is a video they created to show clips from the presentation.

Today Woodland celebrates National Custodian Day! We appreciate our school custodians who go above and beyond to keep our schools clean and safe. You are often the first to arrive in the morning, stand ready to assist throughout the day, and stay into the evening to make sure our schools are ready to welcome our staff and students for a great day in #LifeintheW.

Mrs. Rejczyk's 4th Grade Advanced Language Arts Class had an excellent book discussion today. They are just finishing up their first book study of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. The story is about a beloved toy rabbit who is lost at sea, and the students loved sharing their favorite parts of the adventure that followed. The students also picked up on Edward Tulane's personal journey and how his character developed and changed over time. Great job!

We are so excited to add a full volleyball court to both sides of our building to make recess even more fun! #lifeinthew

Student Leaders hard at work at our meeting today! They were meeting in small groups to help plan for the following 2 exciting PBIS Rewards we have coming up here at Intermediate. On the agenda today was planning for the ROARAZON Raffle Baskets , and the Trimester 1 Referral Free Rewards Event. (GAME DAY!)

Pickle Ball and Frisbee come to Intermediate PE! Students have been hard at work learning these 2 new activities in class.
