Pardon our dust! When our Wildcats are away, we have a lot to get done over the summer! Construction has started on the Intermediate and ESC asphalt replacement project. You will also see a photo of the Intermediate playground as they prepare the site for a new pour and play surface installation.
REMINDER: As of next week, the Educational Support Center (district office) will be temporarily relocated to Woodland Middle School for the summer to make room for these projects.

For our Woodland students, today is the first official day of their summer break.
But you can find many of our dedicated Woodland staff at the College of Lake County participating in planning days for the 2026 -2027 School Year. The school teams are meeting with district administrators, diving into data from the school year, evaluating progress and areas of growth, setting goals that align with the strategic plan and the Board of Education goals, and building excitement for the year ahead! Thank you for participating in these great conversations centered around students. #LifeintheW

There was SO much talent at the WILDcat show, we need two posts! (2 of 2)
To kickoff the WILDcat show, the staff did a spirited runway fashion show with items from the Lost & Found. The music was loud, the poses were fierce, and these Ready-to-Wear styles are sure to please your families when you return them to your closets!

Today at Woodland Intermediate, several amazing performers took the stage to wow their fellow classmates. These talented students got the crowd going by singing, dancing, and tumbling their way to thunderous applause. Way to go Wildcats! #LifeintheW 🤩

The current 3rd graders from Elementary are touring Woodland Intermediate because they will soon be 4th graders!
While the 5th grade classes were away, the 3rd graders visited their future home! Current 4th grade students were the hosts, and they presented the "Cool Tools", and had a list of FAQ's to go over with their 3rd grade visitors.
They were surprised to see Detective Hansen because they thought she only worked at Elementary. They were happy to hear they would get to see her at Intermediate when they come back to school in August. #LifeintheW

The current 5th graders from Intermediate are touring Woodland Middle School because they will soon be 6th graders! Their tour guides are experts now because they have completed three years at Middle School. That's right, the tour guides are former 8th grade students who just graduated THIS WEEK. They volunteered to come back and talk to the younger students about what to expect in 6th grade.
Meanwhile, while the 5th graders are away, 3rd grade students are visiting Intermediate. We'll share pictures of their tour in the next post! #LifeintheW

The fourth grade social studies curriculum focuses on studying the regions of the United States. Ms. Thomas joined a group of other teachers across the country who wanted to do a postcard exchange. Her students sent postcards to classes in the other states participating in the exchange telling them all about Illinois as well as our school and community. In return, her class received postcards from across the country! The kids were so excited to help create this beautiful display for their recent Open House.
Ms. Thomas explained, "I thought it was a great way for my class to learn about states from other students that live in those states. It really brought our learning from the textbook to life and my students were very excited to receive the postcards in the mail!"
Thanks for sharing! #LifeintheW

To celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, Intermediate welcomed the Mandala South Asian Performing Arts group for a special all-school assembly.
During the assembly, performers introduced students to dances from several regions of South Asia, and shared the importance, history, and traditions of the music and dances.
Students were also invited to join in and learn a few dance moves!

May 18th is National Speech Pathologist Day, the perfect time to celebrate all the wonderful ways Woodland's Speech and Language Pathologists help Wildcats with their speech and language needs. Today we celebrate these experts in communication development. Thank you for empowering our students to express themselves with clarity and confidence. #LifeintheW

Thank you for joining us at the Woodland Intermediate Open House last night. It was a great celebration/showcase of the school year. Did you complete the Amazing Race?
Thank you to the PTA for hosting the book fair, spirit wear and bake sale!

Last week, Woodland Intermediate students ROARed with confidence as they presented to their classes!
These 4th graders first wrote a biography about a family member, then researched a famous person who was either ten years older or younger than their family member. After learning about both, students compared and contrasted their lives.
Once their projects were completed, students presented their reports to their classmates and teacher!
Public speaking can be challenging and scary, but our Wildcats did an incredible job sharing their reports with creativity and confidence!

Today, our Intermediate scientists were able to participate in a very cool hands-on learning experience! With the help of parent volunteers, 4th graders were able to dissect a squid and learn more about these cool creatures!
