1st Graders sure know a LOT about chickens! A few feathered friends from Fleming Family Farms visited Elementary on Wednesday. Not only did the students get to meet several different breeds of chickens, but they also observed size, shape and color differences between the eggs they lay. Thank you to Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Filipowicz for inviting us to join in the fun! #LifeintheW

Today is Día del Niño. A holiday celebrated throughout Latin America and various parts of the world. This holiday celebrates children and all of the rights they are entitled to. To make this day extra special, parents wrote their children letters to let them know how special they are! These were a surprise to Maestra Santos' students and the smiles were so bright! To continue the celebration Maestra Santos' class invited Mrs. Winter's class to join her students in playing some board games. It was a great day for ALL!

These students are having a great year with Mrs. Peck and Ms. Garcia! They were learning about biographies, comparing and contrasting, fractions, practicing a variety of skills during centers (reading, writing, and math), and working together - all in one morning. A warm and welcoming space for learning 💚 #LifeintheW

It was 'picture day' for First and Second Graders in Mrs Wilinski's Art Class! Students created their own mini-self portraits in art and assembled them on recycled boxes, as part of Earth Week, to create a Box City. See if you can find your favorite young artists! 26.B.1d. Visual Arts: Demonstrate knowledge and skills to create visual works of art using manipulation, eye-hand coordination, building and imagination.

The Gift of Art! Elementary artists recently created drawings of monsters and superheroes for a project with art students at Warren Township High School. Officer Hansen was really impressed with their artwork, so with a little help from Mrs. Wilinski, they turned their drawings into a framed collage for Officer Hansen's office!

First and second grade students played "Musical Books" in the library yesterday. When the music was playing the students circulated around books from all different genres. As soon as the music stopped they had to sit down and read the book in front of them until the music started up again. The students had a blast looking at several different books! It was a great way to get students excited about books they can check out at the library.

This right here! A friendship through the years... 💚 In the first picture, you will see a Woodland Elementary teacher with her 1st grade student. In the second picture, you will see that the student is now all grown up and teaching side-by-side with her favorite teacher. Ms. Kauck is a first year teacher at Woodland Elementary, and she teaches next door to Ms. Cohen! They have such a special connection and a great story of the relationships people build here at Woodland. Claudia talks about how Ms. Cohen was her favorite teacher and her inspiration for going into the field of education in the Woodland Wildcast: https://woodlandwildcast.podbean.com/e/inspiring-stories-from-four-educators-with-something-unique-in-common/ In a recent "Friday Feel Good" (an internal staff to staff recognition system) Ms. Cohen paid tribute to Ms. Kauck's contributions to Woodland which you can see in the 3rd picture. #LifeintheW
