There is a group of people on the #LifeintheW team that make a world of difference in the classroom and in our learning community. They are Paraprofessionals, and today we celebrate their dedication to our schools and the compassion they show our students. They are a crucial network of support across the district, not just today, but every day. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO! Happy Paraprofessional Appreciation Day!

Taking Pi Day in a different direction, let us welcome you to McGinn's Pizzeria! Ms. McGinn's 3rd grade Challenge Math class celebrated a fraction of their Pi Day by making fraction pizzas. Students had a great time working with equivalent fractions to create the perfect pizza pies. 🍕

Even more Pi Day fun from Elementary!
1st grade buddies from Mrs. Van Anrooy's class visited their 3rd grade friends in Mrs. Bogdala's class for Pi Day! They read a story together, made a pie project and did some writing about what Pi Day is all about! #LifeintheW

2nd grade students in Mrs. Wilinski's Art class learned a little bit about Pi, and a lot about drawing during a Pi/Pie lesson today. They talked about how math is used in many subjects including Art. They learned to draw their favorite slice of pie by using shapes such as rectangles, ellipses, as well as curved and straight lines.
Thank you for sharing this excellent Wildcat artwork with us!

We are feeling 🍀LUCKY🍀 to have such wonderful High School mentors spend time with our Woodland Elementary students each week. This week the high school students planned St. Patrick's Day themed crafts and activities! #LifeintheW

On Thursday in Mrs. Schumann's 1st Grade Dual Language English class, the students learned about this special day that happens every 4 years - Leap Day! We first read a passage and answered questions to generate some background knowledge for everyone. Then, the class participated in an Escape Room activity in groups by completing 5 "key" questions needed to "break out!" What a fun way to learn!

We had to see about some LEAPing 1st graders this morning! Watch as these Wildcats LEAP into March as part of their jump rope unit in P.E. 💚
P.E. Teachers: Mr. Lees & Ms. Campbell
Classroom Teachers: Ms. Santos & Mrs. Haevers

Thank you to those that have taken the Illinois 5Essentials Survey already! There is still time: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/?target_name=parent
Here is Woodland's Parent/Guardian response rate so far:
Woodland Primary: 20%
Woodland Elementary: 18%
Woodland Intermediate: 25%
Woodland Middle School: 18%
This feedback is very meaningful to us, and we appreciate you helping us reach that 20% threshold! As a reminder, we need to reach a minimum of 20% at each school in order to receive the survey results.
