For our Woodland students, today is the first official day of their summer break.
But you can find many of our dedicated Woodland staff at the College of Lake County participating in planning days for the 2026 -2027 School Year. The school teams are meeting with district administrators, diving into data from the school year, evaluating progress and areas of growth, setting goals that align with the strategic plan and the Board of Education goals, and building excitement for the year ahead! Thank you for participating in these great conversations centered around students. #LifeintheW

Ms. Jennings and her 1st grade students made these posters to wish everyone a fun and safe summer. Truett approves this message! 😎
Today we celebrated our amazing 3rd graders as they prepare for their next chapter at Woodland! Next year, these Wildcats will take a big step forward as they leave the Elementary building and head to Intermediate as 4th graders.
Teachers, administrators, staff, students, and even Wiley joined the celebration to help cheer on our future 4th graders. We are so proud of all they have accomplished at Elementary and can’t wait to see all the amazing things they will do at Intermediate!

Moving on Up! Post 2 of 2
The current 3rd graders from Elementary are touring Woodland Intermediate because they will soon be 4th graders!
While the 5th grade classes were away, the 3rd graders visited their future home! Current 4th grade students were the hosts, and they presented the "Cool Tools", and had a list of FAQ's to go over with their 3rd grade visitors.
They were surprised to see Detective Hansen because they thought she only worked at Elementary. They were happy to hear they would get to see her at Intermediate when they come back to school in August. #LifeintheW

Thank you to Missy's Monarchs for stopping by to teach Ms. McGinn's class all about the life cycle and the incredible journey of the Monarch Butterfly! The students had many thoughtful questions and they were able to make connections to other things they have learned about throughout the school year. #LifeintheW

Mr. Lees and Mrs. Campbell’s PE classes held the first ever Woodland Elementary Football League (WEFL). The students had a blast tackling, hurdling, making diving catches and showing off their speed. We love these action shots! 🏈

During a recent visit to Mrs. Hansen's class, students were discussing United States Symbols and making American Flags as a companion project to their reading unit on the history of our country. These students also had the chance to read with Ms. Mary throughout the year. Ms. Mary is a senior reader and community member who volunteers through the Warren Township Senior Center to read with students one-on-one or in small groups. The students in Mrs. Hansen's class loved getting to know Ms. Mary during the school year.
May 18th is National Speech Pathologist Day, the perfect time to celebrate all the wonderful ways Woodland's Speech and Language Pathologists help Wildcats with their speech and language needs. Today we celebrate these experts in communication development. Thank you for empowering our students to express themselves with clarity and confidence. #LifeintheW

Spotted! Wildcats reading in the sunshine on a beautiful day. Fresh air + books = 🤩💚📚

Congratulations to the students in Ms. Jakielski's class for a successful Readers Theater performance!
The students put in a lot of work, creativity, and enthusiasm to bring this show to life. This was a great opportunity for the students to share their love of reading with both their families and the school community. #LifeintheW

🚒 We appreciate our community partners! 🚒
Thank you to the Gurnee Fire Department for an exciting and informative field trip for two of our Woodland Elementary classes. Ms. Lipson & Mr. Clark's classes, along with several parent volunteers, took a tour of Gurnee Fire Station #1 and even had the opportunity to climb into a fire truck and ambulance. We also went over important safety reminders like swimming safety and bike safety in the summer.
