Yesterday, district and school administrators were surprised by a pop-up performance from some of our Woodland Middle School band members to kickoff a day of training and collaboration.
The students did a great job, and by the end of the performance we were clapping, tapping, dancing along - and energized for a full day of important work. If you want to see the WMS Marching Band in action, come see them at the Gurnee Days Parade on Aug. 13 🥁🎺🎷
Woo-hoo!!! It's August, and that means "Back-to-School" preparations are underway. If you are looking for information regarding the start of the 2023-2024 School Year, please visit the "Back-to-School-Headquarters" page on the district website.
You will find information about the first day of school, welcome letters from your school principal, upcoming events, and more! Skyward Family Access is set to open back up on Aug. 10 so that you can see your child's teacher (and schedule for WMS).
We will be updating this page as needed as we make our way toward the start of the school year. Stay tuned!
On Wednesday, Aug. 2, all four Woodland school offices will be closed from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. so that our school administrators and office staff have the opportunity to participate in professional development. This training is also available to our district office colleagues, which may temporarily limit our availability to respond to questions and requests. We appreciate your patience and look forward to a great school year ahead!

Woodland Welcomes new Assistant Principals to the team!
To provide additional support to the students and staff at Woodland Middle School, two new Assistant Principal positions were added, and one Assistant Principal vacancy was filled. Joining the team at WMS this year is Mr. Derrick Williamson, Ms. Lourdes Marrero, and Mr. Robert Taterka. Each new AP brings diverse and extensive educational experiences to #LifeintheW and Woodland is excited to welcome them to our team!

Woodland Dual Language Teachers are partnering with the Warren Newport Public Library to bring you storytelling, singing, dancing, and crafts in Spanish.
There are a few sessions left! No registration necessary, just drop in.

Thank you for the great questions and thoughtful conversation at the first Superintendent Meet and Greet! We met Tuesday afternoon at the Grandwood Park Park District and talked about Safety, Belonging, the new Strategic Plan, PBIS, Technology and Social Emotional Learning - among other things.

Last year staff members and families "adopted an animal" for the Woodland Zoo (second picture), and this year we are creating a Rock and Roll float!

WMS is hosting three orientation sessions for 6th-graders and new students. The event will start in the Learning Center for a quick activity, and a brief tour will follow.
