Woodland Primary School Green Apple Day of Service

Woodland Primary School staff, students and parent volunteers recently participated in a day of service dedicated to beautifying our school. This event was part of a larger global movement, the Green Apple Day of Service, an initiative from the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council that brings together advocates from around the world and encourages them to take action in their communities through service projects at local schools. This day encourages our students to care for their school and learning place and be part of keeping our environment thriving.

Primary School Principal Stacey Anderson explained, “At Woodland Primary, we want to instill in our youngest students in the district, that they can make a difference. So often, young students aren’t given an opportunity to volunteer or be a part of a community project, so we want them to have this experience.”

Over the past few years, our parent and student volunteers have cleaned classrooms, added
fresh paint through the halls and on the playground, organized equipment, and countless other acts of service to improve our school. We measure our success with the amount of smiles we see throughout the day, and the sense of accomplishment we share after a hard days work.
