Strategic Plan 2013-2017

We invite you to view the 2013-2017 strategic plan that was adopted by our Board of Education on April 23, 2013. The process behind developing our new plan was one that required input from all sectors of our learning community. Staff, parents, students and community members were involved in various meetings that began last fall and concluded in December before the Board engaged in discussion and made its decision on the final document.

Fall, 2013--Committee development: Following the establishment of the goals, the next steps include the development of committees to assist the district with the review and successful achievement of the five goals over the next several years. Should you wish to serve on a committee, please contact Public Information Specialist Jennifer Tempest Bova at (847) 596-5604 or at jbova@dist50.net. Please indicate which committee you would to serve on: Student Learning, Finance, Internal Community, External Community and Technology. Meetings are expected to take place periodically throughout the school year.​

January, 2013--Board of Education work sessions: The Board of Education met twice in January to review the draft objectives and initiatives presented by the committee and draft action plan goals presented by the Action Plan teams. Administrative updates followed January's work sessions. By mid-March, the Board had made its final edits to the document.

April 23, 2013 the Board formally adopted the 2013-2017 strategic plan.

December, 2012--Action Plan Team meetings: In early November 2012 five action planning teams (Student Learning, Financial Resources, Internal Community, External Community and Technology) were formed, comprised of 37 individuals including school district administrators, teachers, parents and community members. The purpose of the December meeting was to develop the four or five specific actions recommended to successfully complete the recommended strategic plan goals over the next four years.

October, 2012--Engagement and deliberation: Two meetings were held in October with the purpose of reviewing the district's 2007 strategic plan and defining five strategic objectives and initiatives for Board consideration: Student Learning, Financial Resources, Internal Community, External Community and Technology. Participants included school district certified staff, support staff, administration, parents, community members as well as current middle school students and former students now attending Warren Township High School. A total of 50 individuals volunteered their time to the district.
