PBIS at Woodland Primary!
PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is a proactive systems approach for creating and maintaining safe and effective learning environments in schools, and ensuring that all students have the social/emotional skills needed for success in school and beyond. It is our belief that by creating a positive culture in our schools, students will be able to achieve academically and build positive relationships with peers and adults. The foundation of this approach emphasizes teaching students the behaviors we expect to see, reminding them to use those behaviors, acknowledging them when they do, and correcting them when they do not.
We use ROAR as our acronym-R- Be Respectful
O-Take Ownership
A- Be Accepting
R- Be ReadyThe students are taught the behavioral expectation for each location in the building (ex: classroom, playground, hallway, cafeteria). The students are all taught using "universal language" so that every student has been given the same expectations to demonstrate positive behaviors.
