Dr. VandenBroek started with Woodland in 2000 as a Special Education Supervisor. She has worked in each of the district’s buildings. In 2006, she moved to the District office as the Director of Special Education and in 2016 as the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education.
Dr. VandenBroek received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Campbell University in North Carolina, a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina and her Doctorate degree from Loyola University in Chicago.
Dr. VandenBroek started her education career in North Carolina as a Special Education Teacher and then a Special Education Supervisor, working with students K-12. She relocated with her husband to Illinois who was in the Army stationed at Ft. Sheridan. Prior to Woodland, Dr. VandenBroek worked for the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) as an Itinerant Teacher servicing students across Lake County K-12.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband traveling, anywhere close to the beach makes her happy. Also, she very much enjoys cheering on the University of North Carolina (UNC) TARHEELS.
