    INTERVENTION AND DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

    Updated September 1, 2021 

    Tier 1-  Teaching and Learning: CORE instruction, CORE +, consultations from: reading specialist, math specialist, psychologist, Assistant Director of Educational Support (as needed) are reviewed and updated.


    Who:  General Education Teachers (excludes Special Education Teachers)

    Where: Core Classroom

     

    Tier 2- Intervention Placement:  Students are identified per the district matrix for the reading intervention program.  Data is reviewed every 4 weeks for group response. This team also meets 2-3 times per year at benchmarking periods to progress monitor students in the intervention.  


    Includes all Tier 1 supports


    Who:  MTSS Team, Classroom Teacher, Reading Specialist, Math Specialist, EL Rep, Psychologist, Sped Case Manager, Assistant Director of Educational Support (as needed) 

    Where: Core Classroom

     

    MTSS Team - If there is a change in the intervention after the intervention review (Tier 2 meeting), a meeting is called with parents, administration, teacher and support staff to create an action plan. More intervention support needed.  A record review is completed at this point and the intervention change needs to go for another 6 weeks.


    This team then determines if the intervention is working.  If not, the student moves to problem-solving.


    Who:  MTSS Team, Reading Specialist, Math Specialist EL Rep, Psychologist, Principal, SpEd Case Manager, Specialists, Classroom Teacher, Parents, Assistant Director of Educational Support (as needed) 

     

    Tier 3 - MTSS Team Problem Solving:  Team completes the problem-solving paperwork and determines if a case study is warranted or another round of problem-solving.


    Includes all Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports


    Who:  MTSS Team, Clinicians, administration, teacher of student, specialists, parents., Assistant Director of Educational Support & Assistant Superintendent of Special Education (as needed) 


     If there is a change in the intervention after the problem-solving meeting, a meeting is called with parents, administration, teacher and support staff to create an action plan. (Tier 3) More intervention support needed.  A record review is completed at this point and the intervention change needs to go for another 6 weeks.


    This team then determines if the intervention is working.  If not, the student moves to Orange level problem-solving again.


    Where: Pull Out

     

    Special Education - Team discussions include: process, systems, and service delivery within special 

    education and discussions about students with IEPs.  

    Who:  IEP Team and Other staff (As needed)

    Where: Determined by IEP team
