Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Elsie Tucker
I am thrilled to join the Woodland family as your new elementary assistant principal! I began my journey in education as an English/Language Arts teacher. I then moved to a dean role and then into administration. I earned a BA in English and a BS in Language Arts education from Oakwood University and a Masters in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University.
My educational philosophy is simple. I believe that all children can succeed if they are supported, protected and believe that someone believes in them. Children deserve to learn, grow and prepare for their future in an environment where they are taught enough to think for themselves, cared for enough to care about their world and are free enough to dream.
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my son Eian. I love bowling, volleyball, cooking and reading old sappy novels. I am passionate about children, HBCU’s, self-care, kindness as a lifestyle, data driven instruction and racing 6 year olds at recess! Thank you all for welcoming me into the Woodland family and I am looking forward to this new and amazing school year!
