• PE & RECESS Excuse Process

    We are here to help!

"My child is well enough to be at school but due to recent illness or injury,

they need to sit out of PE and/or have Indoor Recess."

    What should I do?

    For Your Information

From the Woodland District 50 Parent Handbook

"Upon return to school, students should be well enough to participate in normal school activities unless they have a written excuse from a physician. A documented parent request is accepted for up to 3 days in a school year for gym or recess exclusion. Documentation from a physician is required for more than 3 days in a school year. If a child has been hospitalized and is returning to school, a doctor’s note including approval to return to school and any restrictions is required."

If your child was seen by a physician please send a note signed by the doctor with your child or email a note signed by the doctor to prihealthoffice@dist50.net that states:

    • the date they may return to school
    • what your child was seen for/diagnosed with
    • if they are contagious or not
    • any restrictions including if they can participate in PE and Recess
    • the dates they are restricted from any activities

What if my child was not seen by a physician but has a mild injury or illness (without fever, vomiting or diarrhea) and is healthy enough to be in school but I would prefer they stay inside for PE and/or Recess and I have not yet exceeded 3 parent excuses?
