Cell Phone Recycling Program

WOODLAND PTA WANTS YOUR CELL PHONES

Woodland PTA will continue collecting cell phones. The program involves the recycling of cell phones to raise money for our schools. The PTA will be collecting intact cell phones, shipping them to Motorola, and receiving money for each cell phone turned in.

Effective June 1, 2006, a new reward structure will be effective for all participants in the program. A reward list will be specific to the manufacturer and model of the phone. The list will be updated on a monthly basis. Phones must be received by the 25th of the month to receive the reward price for that month. The reward list will be posted on the Race to Recycle web site at http://www.racetorecycle.com/.

The following are some guidelines of the program:

  • Phones must be intact.
  • ANY brand phone is accepted (it doesn’t have to be a Motorola phone).
  • The display on the phone must not be cracked, hinges should be working on flip phones, the internal board of the phone must not be exposed, smashed or partial phones will not qualify.
  • Batteries should be discharged (drained) so the phone cannot be turned on, but do NOT detach the battery.
  • Intact phones WITHOUT batteries are also accepted.
  • It is recommended that you delete all information from your phone before turning it in.
  • Chargers and accessories will NOT be accepted.

Every office in each building will have a box to collect cell phones.  You may send them with your child (as long as it is manageable) or drop them off at one of the offices.  Cell phones collected from neighbors, friends and place of businesses are welcomed and encouraged.
