Reading Recovery Reading Recovery is a short term early intervention program for first grade students who are experiencing difficulty learning to read and write. Children meet daily with a specially trained teacher for 30 minutes for an average of 16-20 weeks. The goal is for children to develop effective reading and writing strategies that will allow them to catch up with their peers and enable them to work independently within the average range of their classroom. Reading and Math Specialists In grades kindergarten through 5, Reading and Math Specialists work with regular classroom teachers to assist them in providing remedial and enrichment services to students demonstrating unique needs. These regular education teachers may provide small group assistance as well as help to students with basic concepts in the general classroom. Bridges Program This is a support program for students who do not qualify for special education or have been dismissed from other district programs yet need additional help in order to be successful in school. Assistance varies depending upon the need. Assistance may include educational support, study and organizational skills etc. Students qualify after being referred to the building Intervention Team for academic review. |
