Dear Parents and Stakeholders,
The Woodland Board of Education approved the 2007-2012 Strategic Plan on March 20, 2007. Following its approval, committees formed this summer to develop strategic implementation plans to achieve the strategic plan goals. The Board of Education approved these action plans on November 28, 2007.
This strategic plan was developed over the course of a year and involved members of our community, parents, students, staff and board members.
The process was divided into three parts:
Community education. The many facets of our successful school district were outlined in a presentation on October 28, 2006.
Community engagement. Recommendations were given regarding areas of focus for the future of the district on November 11, 2006.
Board deliberation and refinement. Information generated from the November workshop was carefully reviewed, discussed and incorporated into the development of the five-year Strategic Plan.
The approved action plans clearly define the implementation of the four plan areas: Student Learning, Fiscal Responsibility, Internal Community and External Community. Committees met over the summer to develop the action plans. The staff, administration, parents, community and Board of Education had an opportunity to provide feedback regarding the proposed action plans. They were formally adopted at the November 28, 2007 Board of Education meeting.
The action plans (Strategic Implementation Plans) serve as the activities and methods behind how we expect to accomplish the goals listed in our five-year strategic plan. This process began with all members of our internal and external learning communities. It is critical that we remain vested in the success of the district and future of our children. (See District Goals Timeline.)
The steps that we take to benefit the future of the district cannot be taken without the support of the district's stakeholders. We thank you for your input, time and commitment to excellence. We look forward to sharing with you our progress toward the successful completion of the goals.
Sincerely,
Joy Swoboda, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
