History:
In July of 2005, Woodland’s Board of Education was presented with an outline of plans to develop an Educational Foundation, an organization composed of community officials, business leaders and parents acting as partners in education to support the students and staff of Woodland. The Foundation operates as a separate entity from the district and is a not-for-profit 501C-3.
The Foundation creates a mechanism to receive and disperse funds, property and gifts of any kind for the benefit of staff and students of Woodland School District 50 for:
• Innovative projects
• Student scholarships
• Support for supplemental projects
• Technology
Getting Started:
In September, a Design Team was formed composed of stakeholders, business leaders and administrators. The Design Team’s role was to develop the By-laws, purpose, mission and goals of the Foundation. In addition, the Design Team was responsible for submitting all necessary local and state paperwork to launch the Foundation.
